Background : Post-operative pancreatic fistula (POPF) is the most dangerous complication after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), it increases morbidity and mortality, hospital stays and costs. Numerous studies concerning operative techniques of pancreatico-enteric anastomoisis have tried to decrease pancreatic fistula. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of modified Blumgart technique anastomosis in PD.

Methods : Case series, 77 patients were reconstructed by modified Blumgart technique from January 2018 to December 2022 at Cho Ray Hospital.

Results : POPF rate is 62,3%, but clinical relevant POPF (Grade B and C) rate is only 3,9%. There was significant relevance between pancreatic texture and incidence of POPF.

Conclusions : Applying of Modified Blumgart technique in PD is feasible and effective in short term outcome. Further randomized controlled trials are needed
