Background : Distal pancreatectomy is the preferred surgical treatment for treating both benign and malignant tumors located in the body or tail of the pancreas. This study aims to describe the clinical characteristics of patients underwent distal pancreatectomy in Cipto Mangunkusumo Tertiary Hospital.
Methods : This is a retrospective descriptive study of 12 patients underwent distal pancreatectomy in Cipto Mangunkusumo Tertiary Hospital from 2021 to 2023.
Results : This study includes a total of 12 patients consists of 1 (8.33%) male patient and 11 (91.67%) female patients. Based on pathology anatomy laboratorium result 3 (25.00%) patients were compatible with pancreas carcinoma, 8 (66.67%) patients have not compatible with pancreas carcinoma, and 1 (8.33%) patient has no pathology result. Pancreas resection was done laparoscopically in 1 (8.33%) patient, laparotomically in 11 (91.67%) patients. Average of intraoperative bleeding was 1545 mL. There were no complications in surgery. Our retrospective study shows there are 1 (8.33%) mortality case after distal pancreatectomy in 2021 with circulation failure as the cause of death.
Conclusions : As it found in our study that there is no postoperative complication, distal pancreatectomy is deemed to be a safe and feasible surgical option for pancreatic mass.
