Background : There are several factors accountable for the improvement of liver resection’s outcome. This study aims to describe the clinical characteristics and outcomes of liver resection in HCC patients in Cipto Mangunkusumo Tertiary Hospital.
Methods : This study restrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 19 HCC patients underwent liver resection in Cipto Mangunkusumo Tertiary Hospital from 2021 to 2023.
Results : This study includes a total of 19 patients consists of 12 (63.2%) male patients and 7 (56.8%) female patients. 16 (84.2%) patients have HCC Child Pugh (CP) score A with 10 (62.5%) CP A(5) patients and 6 (37.5%) CP A(6) patients; 3 (15.8%) patients have HCC Child Pugh B(7). There are 6 (40%) patients with thrombocytopenia and 4 (26.7%) patients have portal hypertension. Liver resection was done laparoscopically in 4 (21.1%) patients and with open approach in 15 (78.9%) patients. Segmentectomy was done in 13 (68.4%) patients and hepatectomy in 6 (31.6%) patients. Average of intraoperative bleeding was 884 mL. There were no complications in surgery. Our retrospective study shows there are 2 (13.3%) mortality cases after liver resection in 2021 with circulation failure as the cause of death.
Conclusions : Clinical features and liver resection procedure in our hospital are similar to what is reported in the established literature. As it found in our study that there is no postoperative complication.
