Background : Laparoscopic Liver Surgery has made great progress in the last twenty years, but slowly compared to other organs of the abdomen; isolated cases and cases series were reported, until experts in advanced laparoscopic surgery worldwide had consensus meetings as in: Lousiville Consensus Meeting, Kentucky, USA in 2008, and another consensus meeting in Morioka, Japan, 2014.

Methods : In that Consensus where some conclusions were determined but at the same time many questions remained about what should be the limit of the resections, and What is a difficult resection, at this time the reported resections are reproducible, they are safe and if there is a worldwide registry of laparoscopic liver resections; This is how the experts gathered around the world to write the European Guidelines for Southampton, United Kingdom 2017. And from that moment on, many parameters have been determined to continue developing this minimally invasive approach to the liver.

Results : In our service we have systematized the progress acquired in laparoscopic liver surgery and we perform partial liver resections, regulated anatomical resections and we have systematically performed left and right lateral sectorectomies.

Conclusions : We are in the process of systematizing and adapting to right and left anatomical hepatectomies as well as all the perioperative management that liver surgery involves, from adequate patient selection to adequate anesthesiological and intensive care management.
